Element Blocks: FAQs
What is Element Blocks?
Element Blocks is a relaxing puzzle game that’s all about fitting blocks into an 8x8 grid. The blocks are provided to you randomly, and your goal is to clear as many lines of blocks as possible.
How do I win?
There’s no winning – just a high score! Play carefully and utilize power ups, and your score will climb higher and higher. You can compare your scores to other players on the leaderboard.
How do I play?
When you start a game of Element Blocks, you’ll be presented with an empty grid, and three types of blocks on the right-hand side of the screen. Choose one and simply drag it into a spot on the grid. After it’s placed, find spots for the second and third block. When those are placed, you’ll be presented with three more random blocks. Continue placing the blocks and try to create lines that run horizontally or vertically. When you do, the line will clear, opening those spots for more blocks to be placed. Try to keep this up as long as possible to get a high score!
How do I lose?
If you have any number of blocks on the right-hand side of the screen that can’t fit within the grid, you will get a game over.
Do the elements themselves affect gameplay?
There are various elements in Element Blocks, from fire to lightning. You can use any blocks to create full lines, however.
How does scoring work?
As you successfully remove lines, you’ll score points. You can find your score at the top of the screen. Every time you place a block or clear a line, you’ll get points. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when playing:
- The more lines you clear simultaneously, the more points you get. This can be dangerous, as if you run out of moves you’ll get a game over, but if you have a way to clear two, three, or more lines at once, try to do it!
- The more points you get, the higher your score multiplier goes. Your score multiplier can be found to the left of your score. It goes up whenever you place a block or clear a line. But if you clear multiple lines at once, it’ll jump up much farther. If you want to increase your multiplier, go for big plays!
- Your high score can be found underneath your game score, next to a crown icon.
How do I use power ups?
In Element Blocks, you have access to two power ups, and both are perfect for getting you out of a tight spot when your grid starts become overcrowded. They are:
- Dynamite – Removes any blocks in a 3x3 area of your choice
- Lightning – Clears all blocks of one chosen color
However, these power ups don’t come easy. You’ll need to buy them from the bottom-right corner of your screen – but in order to do that, you’ll need to collect stars. The main way to get stars is simply to keep playing the game. Every once in a while, a block on your grid will be covered with a star. If you clear the row that the block is in, you’ll get the star!
How else can I get stars?
If you complete other achievements, such as using power ups a certain amount of times or clearing a specific amount of one type of block, you can also get a star. Click the ribbon icon in the top left to check your progress on those achievements.
How much does each power up cost?
Dynamite costs 15 stars to purchase, and lighting costs 25 stars, but they become more expensive with each use.
Can I hold more than one of each power up at the same time?
No.
Can I change the volume of the music or sound effects?
Yes. Click on the settings gear at the top right of the screen and you can modify the volume of music and sound effects (or turn them off entirely).

Hi Bernie, I play this game a lot and have reached out to Arkadium about losing Stars and Achievements. I usually play during commercial breaks and it does keep current game for me. Strongly Suggest you might take time to also contact them, they are very nice and truly seem to want to help. I did not ask about the game doing the high scores like most others do. I'd just like to have all my earned stars stay in place !!

Hey Bernie, on each game (Before you open it), if you'll scroll down almost to very bottom there is a link (blue font I think) for Arkadium. It opens a little window that will have helpful info about the game, scoring and various tips. There will be a Contact / Help at the bottom or maybe a tab, depending on your device !! Good Luck, mine is still erasing stars and they weren't sure why. Still enjoy it tho, LOL

Sandy @SandyW956042 , thanks for posting this "helpful" info!!! How does Arkadium respond (email, on game site or another way)? Approximately how long for them to respond? Are there OTHER games that they handle? Thanks, Nicole!

As everyone is noting, high scores aren't logged. This is disappointing because I've scored over 24,800 in my highest game and I'd like to see how that compares with others. My stars are adding up, but I don't know how to use them. Can anyone explain this to me? I bought a dynamite power up once, but everything dropped before I could figure it out.

I am disappointed as well! AARP has had so many games you would think they would be better equipped for scores! I too have had high score! Even my daily games no longer keep score totals! So sad we take the time to play but they are technically not able to keep score!

I I played yesterday and even commented. Just went to start a new game and all my stars are gone. It hasn't ever kept track of my previous scores either. Is there a way to keep stars OR is there a specific time frame of when they disappear ? Thanks, Sandy
