Scent sensation from childhood?

Growing up down the street from my best friend, was always a scent sensation!  No matter what time of day it was, I always smelled coffee and bacon.  When there were sleepovers, her mom made the best pancakes.  Then you could add the intoxicating aroma of maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon and freshly baked bread.  Glorious!  Christine

As a kid, my parents would drive us from the St Louis suburbs, across the Mississippi into Illinois where my aunt lived. Every time we'd pass the Wonder Bread and Anheuser-Busch plants, the scent of yeast permeated the air for a mile or so. Last time I was there making the same trek over to the Cahokia Mounds, the same scent was still there.

When my mother ate sardines or my grandmother ate Limburger cheese, I got out of the house.
