Over 1 Million Stoves Recalled for Fire Risk.

Samsung receives reports of more than 250 fires.

Samsung has recalled over a million electric stoves because the front-mounted knobs can be accidentally turned on by humans or pets, posing a fire risk, according to an announcement from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Since 2013, the company has received over 300 reports of its electric slide-in ranges turning on unintentionally. This has led to approximately 250 fires, causing “extensive” property damage in at least 18 cases, the agency says. The incidents have resulted in about 40 injuries, including eight that required medical attention. Seven fires resulted in the death of pets.
