You arenโt alone if youโre frustrated about your car insurance bill. Rates spiked after the COVID-19 pandemic created high inflation and drove up the price of vehicles, parts and repairs. Theyโve only gone up from there, with full-coverage premiums increasing an average of 42 percent (from $1,633 to $2,313) from 2022 to 2024, according to a report from Insurify, an insurance comparison website.
An ongoing trade war with other countries could push insurance rates even higher, โespecially for foreign or electric vehicles,โ says Laura Longero, executive editor at CarInsurance.com, an auto insurance comparison website, as these vehicles rely on more parts and batteries from overseas.

I "renew" my Allstate Car Insurance every 6 months and yes, it is that time AGAIN.
Happy Dance, 2nd time it has DECREASED this year 2025.
Lol, about to have my 1st heart attack DURING COVID when it "tripled" on me.
GRATEFUL things are BACK ON TRACK for me = as I AGE along with the OTHER old lady (2006 Hyundai Elantra) = my premiums are back to DECREASING when I renew.
Take care,

From the article: โ If you have an older vehicle that isnโt worth very much, it may make sense to drop your comprehensive and collision coverage to save money.โ
I assume you have already done this on the โOld Ladyโ - that saves a big bundle and with a car that old, it is kind of useless. If you have a claim, under collision or comprehensive, the insurer is only gonna pay you what the car is worth (the lowest worth).
Also, you havenโt hit 70 yet and that is when many, maybe all, auto insurers will raise your rates just because stats show that with age reflexes slow down. Just like when we were teenagers, we paid a higher rate for our age and living conditions - they do it again at 70 - reflexes slower, eyesight not as great - especially peripheral vision
I do urge everybody to make sure they are covered for UNinsured and UNDER Insured motorist - because if somebody hits you and there is damage - both to you and to your auto - they are not gonna have enough insurance to fully cover your losses and then it is on your insurance to make up that difference, There are a lot of people out there driving around that are either UN Insured or UNDER Insured -

Lol @GailL1 , I was "asking" folks to SHARE about their INSURANCE [increasing, decreasing, savings & so on]. I was NOT asking for any "advice" dear lady. All is well on my end. Take care, Nicole!

Maybe my advice will help somebody else. I hope - or at least let them know what takes effect at 70 years old.
Nothing is gonna help me except higher deductibles, already getting all the discounts that I can find - and one has to cover themselves fully for insurance to be any good because of all the What-Ifs -
I am following my states recent law change in tort reform that takes effect next year. Maybe some relief there next year.
