@SIMPLEGAL  I think the seniors who are attached to their dogs were probably attached to them as kids and as adults!!  One of my earliest memories as a 3 year old is a longing for a pet of any kind,  with a dog topping the list!   Longed for a pet all through childhood and now I have many pets Woman Very Happy

Companion vs. Service Dog

When did seniors become so attached to their dogs?  Being a dog in The Villages, Florida is like hitting the Lottery!  The dogs are spoiled rotten!  They go everywhere with their owner.  They are the center of the universe for so many.

I believe that it provides a feeling of security and unconditional love for so many who are missing their children or need to feel needed.

I have considered owning a dog but cannot see myself devoting every minute of my day to caring for an animal.

Any thoughts?
