How to Turn a Pre-Cruise Stay in Miami into a Mini Vacation.

Make the most of your pre- or post-cruise time.

My fiancé and I were sitting in San Francisco International Airport waiting to board for our trip to Miami when we heard the dreaded announcement: Your flight has been canceled. Bad news in any case, this time it heralded possible disaster. Our red-eye flight from the West Coast was scheduled to arrive in Miami at 7 a.m. Our first-ever Caribbean cruise would sail without us if we weren’t on the boat by 3 p.m.

Saved by a lucky – and extremely expensive – rebooking, we learned a valuable lesson.
