I would go to Jamacia with my best friend and daughter, cause i they deserve to be pampered for all the things they done to help me with since i've been ill. It would be exciting and i would stay a week just to get a full look at everything there to offer.

The four of us are seniors. Far from Isis as one of us has a recent hip replacement. She can ride a bike but would find crouching under a table very difficult. Two of us would find holding onto a windowsill for several minutes impossible as the sitter is a bit large. And the fourth would not be able to run due to flat feet. We met working in the local human services office. State employees for anywhere from 30 -40 years. Starting as teenagers. Have shared our lives thru weddings, children, loss of parents, cancer survival, a husbands suicide, remarriage and now would love to be on a warm beach in Hawaii together for a nice vacation.

How fun to think about a wonderful trip with a wonderful friend.

I think going to a lovely Florida beachfront hotel with my dear friend

since very early childhood.  Having a spinal cord injury is stressful

to cope with everyday because of the pain.  It is rare that we are

able to take a vacation on our social security income but when

we go to a Florida beach for a week or two, the pain is much

more tolerable.  Maybe it's the weather or the ocean or ....

We love playing in the water, floating with the waves, swimming

on a calm day.  In the water, my body is able to move in ways

it cannot do out of the water so it is a joyful time.  My friend and

I went to different colleges on the East and West Coasts and

we haven't had time together since then really.  Sometimes

she would come through the Denver airport and have time

for coffee between flights.  We mostly email conversations

back and forth and sometimes talk on the phone.  Email is

easier with different time zones and trying to plan how to

coordinate schedules for a phone call.

We would spend the mornings before 10:30 on the beach

walking and playing in the water.  We would explore different

areas we haven't seen and go to local events.  We would

also enjoy wonderful fresh seafood dinners every night.

We would talk and talk and talk and laugh and cry together.

Thank you for listening.

The Ultimate Getaway for me would be aa week at an all inclusive resort in Punta Cana. I would spend this time with my three half sisters. We have the same father and different mothers. I knew they existed but hadn't met them until five years ago. My oldest sister Nancy contacted me because she felt it was time for us to meet . I only knew two of the girls first names. We have been able to get together a few times and always have a good time but to be able to get together for a week would mean the world to me. All my life  I had wanted siblings. I grew up in a mixed up unloving home with my maternal grandfather after my mother was killed in a car accident when I was 5 years old. I never felt loved units  I met my sisters. Using that time to bond would make such a difference. We could tell our stories and talk about our families while relaxing in the sun.

                                                                  Thank You,

                                                                   Pamela Riesterer

AAAHHH!!!

AAAHHH!!! Yes that is me screaming at the calendar because I just turned 60 years old! Three years ago I retired from teaching kindergarten for 34 years! Again AAAHHH!!! I really need a rest.

If I could go anywhere in the world to rest and also take my best friends along, I would choose the beautiful Islands of Portugal named the Açores; pronounced Azores in California where we were born and raised! I still live smack-dab in the middle of the same small town where we all grew up. Our great grandparents arrived in the USA from Azores in the early 1900’s. My great grand father (Grand-Dad) emigrated from Sao Jorge Island; famous for cheese!

I have a group of 9 girlfriends ages 59-61 of Azorean Portuguese ancestry. We have been best friends since early elementary school days in the 1960’s and we love each other deep down in our souls! The youngest of us has passed-on; Felicia Ponce de Leon and we miss her very much. We get together once a year in memory of our friend, travel, laugh at memories and share our current personal family details. We all have a deep yearning to visit the Azores Islands.

My girlfriends are great friends to me in many ways; compassionate, time giving, society-helping, animal lovers, whom raised excellent, smart, talented children and grandchildren! We became fast friends playing together during recess at the only elementary school in our town 54 years ago! We graduated High School, stayed in touch since graduation and recently celebrated a High School class reunion that included all previous graduates (those still living of course!) to ever graduate from our high school founded in 1908.

When my friends and I arrive in the Azores Islands for a two-week get-away, our main 2 goals will be to Relax and Rest at Spa Hotels and Wineries! Our combined ideas of relaxing and resting are varied and include; research our ancestry by DOING activities our great grandparents would like us to experience! We are sure our grandparents would encourage us to visit Spas and wineries, drink an abundance of wine, eat diverse foods, photograph landscapes and flowers, go fishing, hiking, and our favorite: “shop ‘til we drop”!

I am Susan Heringer (Silva). My friends are Susan Lamb (Mattos), Claire Souza, Joni Cabral (Cotta), Kimberly Berry (Pacheco), Debi Liledhal (Rocha), & Shirley Buzbee (Rose/Jacinto) all of Azorean Portuguese decent. Two others of our group are unsure of Portuguese ancestry and wish to research and discover more as soon as they retire: Diane McKnight (Brunette} and Debbie Joiner (Lee) We visited Debbie Lee last year in Petaluma, CA: she cried because we looked so old!

We will go to each of the islands from whence our relatives were born; try to get a story or two from the locals and perhaps a family recipe. We will feel protected, loved, part of the universal emotional “tug” that enticed and encouraged emigrants to travel to new lands throughout previous millennium. We will toast and recount the importance of family, friends and their enduring love.  We will rest in the beauty and quiet of tropical paradise, and heal. Instead of AAAHHH we will return to the USA saying “AAAWWW”.

I am not sure what this i-signature is but I do have an i-phone!

There's only one place that I would love to go and share some time with my "girfriends" and that is "Mount Airy Casino Lodge" in the Pocono Mountains, Pa.  We (Vi, Joyce, Al, Jeanette, Gloria, Sallie, Sandra) are sisters, and definitely need time away to rest, and re-connect.  We would love at least a week away to just be "senior girls."  Woman Very Happy

Of course, our activities would include slot playing at the casino, visiting and shopping at the flea market  in"Marshalls Creek", and touring "The Chocolate Factory".  As seniors, we've earned some R & R. Woman Wink

My name is Donna  and my ultimate vacation would be spent with my 3 sisters, Lynne, Pam, and Marilyn. They are my best friends and even though we are all between the ages of 53 and 60 years old, when we are all together, it seems like we are young girls again. We laugh when we talk/reminisce  about our brothers and spouses.  We cry when we talk about our deceased family members, and we brag about our children and grandchildren. We are unable to get together very often due to work and health issues with a couple of my sisters, so I would love to be able to go with them to Hawaii or the Smokey Mountains for a week or so. If we went to Hawaii, we could scuba dive or just relax on the beach. In the Smokey Mountains, we would relax just sitting  around a cabin or  on the porch drinking coffee, laughing and crying over all of memories over the years. We also enjoy fishing or just sightseeing. Thank you so much for this opportunity!!!
