Any one taken a trip to Greece with Gate 1 travel?

My daughter and I are traveling to Greece thru Gate 1 in October. Our trip is Independent. Not a tour. Our trip includes the ferry to Santorini. I think it's the Blue Star (longer one) since it's October.

Has anyone taken the ferry instead of flying?

We are considering purchasing a flight to get to the Island but possibly taking the ferry back to Athens.

Any tips or suggestions?
