Xfinity TV and Roku

Back in January, Xfinity released a beta verion of Roku app. If you are also a subscriber of Xfinity internet, you can stream pretty much everything you subscribed to, including on demand and dvr, to the Roku box inside your home network. This opens up the option of doing away with the extra Xfinity cable box you need to rent every month. Also you can place your TV any where within your Wifi coverage area without the need of having a cable outlet near by. The data you use for streaming is not counted towards your monthy data allowance. The most basic Roku box in around $30, the extra Xfinity box rental is about $10 a month. The break even is quite fast. However, this might not be for you since the interface using the Roku is not as convenient as the Xfinity remote. But if you have a spare TV in a guest bedroom that is not getting much use, this is an very good option to get TV programing to it. There is a more deluxe version of Roku that has voice command. It may make the interface better.
