This past weekend was spent chasing down a sim card when I tried to enroll to Consumer Cellular.
I was sold a promising plan by my phone inquiry and told I could expect a sim card to be sent via FedEx the next day. I had expressed interest in maintaining my original phone number and was told that all that would be necessary would be changing the Sim card. I was a member of Cricket and knew the dealer in my area who was always able to address my concerns and got the transfer number and account number to complete the transfer with Consumer Cellular. I suppose I made the mistake of notifying Consumer Cellular once I had the transfer data required as soon as I got the info, because when I gave the info to a Courtney with Consumer Cellular she proceeded to disconnect my active phone. My last words to her were to reply to her question if I had another phone. I expressed to her that my cricket phone was the only number I had. At that point our connection died and I could not call Consumer Cellular back nor did I have any phone service. I immediately returned to the Cricket dealer I knew and had to get a temporary number to enable any kind of phone service while waiting for the arrival of the sim I was promised from Conumer Cellular. The next day no FedEx delivery was ever made and I called Consumer Cellular to cancel my service. They said I would still be liable for the sim card delivery that was never made and I still await for my initial payment with them to be cancelled. This service with Consumer Cellular is untenable. Had I not been able to return to Cricket I would have been without any phone service for more than 24 hours. I wanted to alert all AARP members of my treatment from Consumer Cellular that their process left me stranded without phone service that took me through the entire day with Cricket to restore any phone service for a period of more than 24 hours. I'm grateful I didn't have any emergency situations arise and I was able to get a temporary phone number from Cricket until I could get my number and service restored with Cricket. With Consumer Cellular I would still be looking for a Target store where I would have to resolve the issue with a teenager.
