When we tried to log on to MacDonalds in Ocoee, Florida, me and another guy logged on to each other's tablets but we couldn't get online.

I bought a HT-TM05 that bridges a free

wifi to your own secure wifi at Panera or Bobevans, etc.

Like all small devices, lock your device on power up, and lock the WIFI. If your tablet is taken at least your accts wont be compromised. =)

Thank You for anwering my question. It is an Amazon Fire. I guess they just came out with it. It is a $49.99 deal. I am willing to play for protection if I need to.

Depends on the email provider.

Gmail: use the Gmail app and you should be fine.

Others: make sure to configure the email app's connection to use SSL or TLS for security.

Or access only via a website using https for a connection.

I actually have an article on the topic: https://askleo.com/how_do_i_use_an_open_wifi_hotspot_safely/

Enjoy the cruise!
