We would like to turn our home into a small hospice care facility.  We live in FL in case there are state specific requirements.  We have 2 extra bedroom and 1 extra bath.  Most of the hospice care facilties we have visited do not meet our expected care and living condidtions.  We feel this is an important ministry that needs more facilities with better accomodations.

Thank you

Most hospice free standing care facilities are pretty nice, and rely on fundraising to stay open since medicare is pretty strict with how much and whether to reimburse for inpatient hospice care. Since the hospice program under medicare is basically assuming that most care will be provided in the patient's home and by her or his family members.

@s374902n94 - Since you mention "our expectations", please clarify whether this would just be for your own family members, or others. As cat0w said, you need to find out what your area is zoned for, not to mention all the health & building codes you'd have to meet, as well as additional insurance & possible bonding of personnel.

Have you checked with your local Fire Marshal or Code Enforcement Department?
