If your Loved One starts to be afraid at night because of unexplained "Big Men," coming in, loud noises, or other confusion, take him or her very seriously.

Yes, this reaction can be part of dementia,

or it can be from the lonely and frightened feelings experienced while laying day after day,

night after night, alone in their bed, or it can be real.

Check with the Hospice for their policy on family spending the nightand make arrangements.

Stay the night and provide the reassurance, help, and companionship that is missing.

Monitor reactions at night and in the morning.

If your presence is still needed, try to set up a family rotation.
