What are the name of your apps ? Are they in the App Store or on Google play? Can you show a screen shot or picture of them? Thank you in advance.

I am fortunate that I still work. It is a very mentally challenging job. I am way past retirement age. If and when I do retire, I hope to take some classes to learn more about some of the crafts I enjoy. Working with floral arrangements is one and writing is the other.

PS: I also try to stay away much of the time from the group called "Politics and Current Events."

Like you, I keep my mind sharp by doing interviews ... in my case, audio interviews for the all-volunteer nonprofit community podcasting project I founded 3 years ago. With the help of my wife and several community members we've created 550 community podcast episodes in 3 years. Check out our website at https://best of BCB.org. Am now wanting to start including more video interviews. Would love to brainstorm with you by phone. Please contact me at Barry.peters@bestofbcb.org

I too am a software developer, for the Mac and iPhone.  Everyone seems to think software developers consist of young people, but at 65 I still develop apps.  I do it for the mental challenge as well as the income it generates.  Also my wife and I work the daily Jumble game over dinner.

I keep my brain sharp by producing video interviews that are helpful to viewers.  Other elders have sought my advice in producing their own.  We upload them to YouTube.com and submit them for cablecasting on community channels and for streaming online.  I am prepared to advise others on sharing their wisdom.

They say the brain is a muscle, and if you don't test it's limits then its going to affect growth, and possibly allow atrophy to settle in when not used.

But if you keep doing the same thing over and over, even if challenging like sudoku, it's still going to become rudimentary by routine and not be as effective to create new synapses between neurons.

Fitness has a direct correlation to brain health;

Along with the frequency of a fitness program;

A proper diet is also important for brain health;

But brain training has skepticism from scientific community;

Many do crossword puzzles or play games, but there is also the importance of exercise and diet.  What are your brain exercises?  What do you recommend for others?

I love solving puzzles! Majong is a favorite game, but like some of the others here, I have purposely organized life in such a way that I am constantly moving physically as well as mentally solving problems. So, diet, exercise plus a steady dose of interesting, engaging tasks ranging from running a farm to genealogy and managing our investments.

In addition, each day I take a fun, free, 5-minute class via email from Highbrow. More on that here: http://community.aarp.org/t5/Brain-Health/Free-Lifelong-Learning-Through-Highbrow/m-p/1811880#U18118...

Avoid environmental toxins! All of which cause brain fog, fatigue, depression, gastrointestinal distress and generally make me miserable!

No fluoride,  eat organic food as much as possible, and use natural cleaning products. That's the first step, everything else follows.

I still program video games. I am learning a new scripting language for making an MMO (massive multiplayer online) video game, called HSL. I also play these games to learn the different parts, and how they should work.
