This has to do with our car rental benefits, specifically the Zipcar benefit / option.
In Illinois there is a law that provides for opting out of facial
recognition, it’s called BIPA. We tried to join Zipcar directly, not yet
thru AARP and they had a bogus compliance situation whereby you had to
provide a selfie photo to them and "then they would opt you out".
Well of course that’s backwards and basically they and their vendors
have then done facial recognition.
Naturally, in these times of heightened security and privacy concerns,
that’s not acceptable and the reason behind BIPA. Have you encountered
this situation thru the AARP beenefit, and can you advise if we can join Zipcar without submitting a selfie?
Thanks
