AARP has people from the Philippines answering phones

Trying to get an answer on myUHC membership going up twice in 1 year. my call was answered by someone in another country. Why? trying to save money? I think the CEO of AARP make over a million dollars a year. Anyone else think AARP is just a marketing company, thats making money off the very people they say they are advocating for?

 It seems anywhere you call these days for customer service, someone you can hardly understand answers the call. Try calling Walmart customer service...geez😳

Are you talking about your AARP-UHC Medicare Supplemental Plan (Medigap) - if so, you are talking to the wrong entity.  AARP has nothing to do with the premiums - that’s all on the insurer to set based on, like @TRL1111 said, (1) your declining discount as stipulated in your contract with UHC on your plan and (2) usage or inflation relation increases - and here your state has oversight and approval for this type of rate increase.

First of all, AARP has nothing to do with your UHC premium (I assume that's what you mean when you say UHC membership).

If you read posts here, you'll find out that if you have a UHC supplement with a declining enrollment discount, your premium will go up once a year due to the discount going down, and it will go up once a year for all members of the plan due to increasing medical claims, inflation, etc.  These premium increases can happen at different times of the year depending on your birthday or the date when you first bought your UHC supplement.

Second of all, assuming they have people in the Philippines answering the phones, they're hardly the only company doing it, because it saves money.

Third of all, you should read the many posts here about AARP's relationship with UHC; you'll find that it is indeed just a marketing deal.  But that doesn't mean AARP doesn't advocate for seniors.
