In case this helps someone else:
I had trouble finding the message center and see that others have had issues too. After fiddling with it for a long time and not getting anywhere, I thought that it might be better to try a different browser other than Chrome. I went to Internet Explorer and was able to claim my prize with no problems. The AARP DEV team has some work to do to make their site more compatible with Chrome.
