Cant purchase gift cards
I see a lot of people have troubles with buying these. I have tried many times to purchase carnival gift cards but it always gives an error. I called aarp and the guy said its probably an address matching issue. Has anyone been able to get them to remove the united states from the address? Also, does it try to match the phone number as well for credit card purchases? It looks like I cant adjust my phone number unless I call but they are not open until monday.

My husband and I have the same problem. We are not able to make purchases and keep getting an error message for either a problem with the credit card or address. I googled problems with buying cards on aarp and it seems like this is an ongoing issue that they cannot resolve. I wish I had known before joining. People beware, do not join if you want to be able to use the “AARP Rewards” site. Look at all the people with the same issues. Reddit has similar complaints.

I have been trying to purchase gift cards too for 2 weeks, like 5 different days. Called AARP 3 times now and was told a few different reasons why it's not working. They sent me a link to "register my membership" even though I already created an AARP account online...that link just took me to a page to create an online account with my current membership, which I had already done. I don't think they know or maybe they don't want to say why we can't purchase from rewards.

Same issue. Have also called several times and they give you same responses as noted on these boards. Nothing is resolved though. Very disappointed. Do not join if you want to be able to actually use the “rewards” website. It’s more aggravation than it’s worth.

I have been trying to purchase gift cards for 3 to 4 weeks now and get the same error every time. I called customer support and they gave me the same response everyone else has received. I have checked my address information, used 3 different computers as well as my phone. Used 3 different browsers, 4 different credit cards as well as my debit card. I have turned off all virus protections, and pop up blockers. I have tried different edits to my address information. So far nothing has worked. I have done everything I can think of on my end. I have purchased many items from other sites so I doubt this issue is on my end. There is either something wrong with the AARP payment processing system, or there is something wrong with the set up of my account that is not fixable on my end. I wish this would get escalated to someone that can fix the problem. I know from reading the various posts that I am not alone.

Yes, so many people including myself have the same problem. What a waste of time. I wish I had researched this prior, but believed AARP was a “reputable” organization that I could trust. Do not join because you cannot actually use the “benefits.” They are not putting resources to fix this problem as evidenced by this site and other boards on the internet. Dissappointing.

Hi Gary @GaryM833610 hopefully not . Your account should only change to a non-member status, but your points should stay intact. You will only be able to earn 5000 points daily instead of the 7500 points members can earn.
good luck
Bill
