Nikki was taken from us on April 15th, 2012. As a backseat passenger, her girlfriend drove through a stop sign into the path of an F-150. The only one to die in the crash was our daughter Nikki. An innocent victim as Nikki was the only one of three girls who wore her seatbelt. We buried Nikki in her high school senior prom dress.

A grandchild to Gilda Capodanno and Nancy Kellenyi and our beatiful 18 yr old daughter, we never thought 9 years old was middle aged. Distracted driving (DD) is an epidemic that does not discriminate. You don't have to drive to be affected by DD, you just have to step outside your door.

My wife Gina and I started People Against Distracted Driving (PADD®) Two years have passed and Nikki's Charity PADD® has grown to a national charity dedicated to educating others of distracted driving.

Gina and I are both in our 50's and our Mom's are in their 70's. None of us ever thought our "golden years" would be filled with grief. 'When you loose your parent's, you have lost your past. When you loose your child, you have lost your future."The cell phones are not bad, it's the irresponsible use of them behind the wheel thats bad. PADD® not only educates everyone of the dangers of DD, we also support victims and victims families both emotionally and financially.

But we can't do it alone, we need everyones support to continue our efforts. Please visit www.padd.org and soon you will be getting mail about our work. Please consider helping us end this new epidemic which has surpassed drunk driving as the number one cause of death in our youth today.
