Bigger is better—sometimes. If you use all six of your tiles on one word, you'll get an automatic 50-point bonus. But that's not the only way to gain an advantage. Look carefully for open x2 and x3 tiles, which double or triple the letter (if it's a blue tile) or word (if it's a red tile). And look extra carefully for when those tiles can create two separate words. Do that and your bonus will be counted twice! Try Outspell today!

I've done all of this, but I still don't score higher than the 500s. How can people be making over 1000 points per game? Often I get all vowels or all consonants. This limits options with what is on the board. I see no way to get 1000 points unless you are choosing your own letters.

My highest Outspell score is 4200, so I can't give tips for higher than that. Every turn, use the option to trade a tile for a tile of your choice. Highest scoring words (as far as I know) are the words beginning with B or P and containing 4 Zs. Pizzazz, Bizzazz & variations beginning with Be, Ba & Pa.

On beginning turn, start with Biz, Bez or Bazz. Pizzazz has the option to repeat the score by adding Y. All of these words have the option to repeat the score by adding ES.

You'll see your scores soar with these tips. (There may be more I haven't discovered.)

I just realized that Outspell on AARP does not include the feature allowing players to switch out one letter every turn. That's the only way to score high. If you want to play with this feature, play for free at Washington Post online.

I've scored over a thousand several times. You learn as you go. I usually play on the Washington Post website. I've gotten on the scoreboard several times as well. But I've neve been a top scorer. There are people who get in the mid two thousands and I don't know how they do it. I'd like to see their board so I could learn. 🙂

I've seen scores that are up into the multiple thousands of points and I haven't the remotest idea as to how such huge totals are accumulated. Does anyone have even the slightest clue how this is accomplished?

The AARP game site version of Outspell doesn't have the option to pick your own letters so why are two systems combined on the same scoreboard. The players on the AARP site don't have a chance to get the highest scores since they are competing against players from a site with many more scoring possibilities.

I've been following all the recommendations on "Improving Your Score in Outspell" but no matter how hard I try my numbers still don't get any higher than six or seven hundred points per game.

I love this game; it is like an online 'scrabble game ' where you play against an 'AI opponent'/ software. It will usually take about 90 minutes to play; where you "can" improve your personal score over time.

First time you play, your score will usually be under 1,000 points - which will soon be your goal to get over 1,000 points. With proper 'observance and analysis' you can improve your scores.

It took me weeks to slowly improve my 'personal score' and with my use of "pen and paper" to write down " helpful hints/ clues" for myself.

So, yes it can be humanly done without 'hacking' - and yes the "hackers" have infiltrated the scoreboard of this game and many other AARP games with their supposedly high scores and yet they have no official "AARP Official profile". or they haven't scored in the 'Daily Score' and yet have Weekly or Monthly High scores 🙄 . There has been a hacker who tried exposing other hackers scores - which is kind of funny/ ironic.

I can say for my self I am real - it takes time to slowly improve your score and it takes a certain 'mind frame to achieve high scores.'

It is a matter of perseverance/ determination to - to improve your own personal best regardless of the other high scores you see; that is what I like about this game/ puzzle.
