United Health Care IMHO is the worst Medicare program that I have had , How could AARP endorse this company IMHO AARP has sold out its members, My out of pocket expenses are way more then I had with Aetna or Humana is AARP really looking out for seniors.

@FrankD220190

What is your gripe with UHC and what type of plan do you have with them?

The have Medicare Advantage plans (Medicare Part C) and they have Medicare Supplemental policies (different ones are offered) that work with Original Medicare to help pay some or most all of the part that Medicare does not pay based on the plan you have with them.

You can change a Medicare Advantage plan every year during the annual open enrollment period of October 15 to December 7 to any of the others that are offered in your area and which meets your needs (usually they have their prescription drug benefit built into the plan)

You can change your Medigap (Medicare supplemental) plan at any time - your state may give you specific times you can do this without underwriting but you can change at any time if you go thru underwriting and can PASS.

AARP has nothing to do with either of these types of Medicare plans - they get royalties from UHC for using their branded name - and it helps them accomplish their non-profit mission without placing the financial burden on just membership. A sweet deal for a nonprofit like AARP. They have NO influence on UHC as far as setting premiums or plan design if it is a Medicare Advantage plan. Maybe some extra benefits might be included or they may give some type of discount to members of AARP. You do have to be an AARP member to buy a AARP/UHC Medicare Supplemental plan - that’s a qualifier.

Since you didn’t really elaborate on why you are displeased and the type of plan, maybe look around and find out your options for a plan that better meets your needs as a Medicare beneficiary. Medicare Brokers can help you and so can your states SHIP program (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) - You can locate your states’ SHIP here:

SHIP Locator

Good Luck in your quest ~
