I emailed them and told them that was the end of my game playing on AARP. I also will not renew my membership. These are the worst ads I have ever seen, and I have never seen them on any other site. I have been checking out the games I play on other sites. I don't like it as well, as I enjoy the top ten scores, etc., and seeing how close I can get, but I am not willing to drive myself nuts with those ads. I'm sure that we are not the only people who hate the ads. If AARP wants to drive people away, they've chosen a very effective method.

I'd like to second the post by @linDue of 3-31-26. I don't think I have ever seen an online ad I hated as much as these. I have commented on the feedback tab on this site, and I have reached out to the customer service contact on the advertiser's site to advise them that I will never, never, never buy their products. I also will not be renewing my AARP membership if this continues. Whoever approved this seizure-inducing monstrosity of an ad campaign needs to be fired.

I use Firefox so did a Google search on what to look for in Firefox add-ons. I just added a popup blocker, and tried my favorite AARP game and so far it's working. I don't know if it will continue but that is a huge help, Serene. Happy spring to you! Thank you so much for the tip. I've never used blockers before.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I see that as a band-aid solution. I'm not objecting to ads in general, I know they're a financial necessity. What I hate is the constant flashing, and the fact that they can't be turned off. I want them to go away completely and permanenetly.

Ad blocking tools and/or software is to help block ads @RoseInBlue , and consumers can use those tools. The other person here who was having ad problems wrote back to say that they got an add on-extension to their browser (quite quickly actually) and it helped them.

I mainly use the app on a tablet, I don’t have all of the ad problems others have when I use that.. But on a browser with a computer I’d utilize any or all ad blocking tools my browser would have as well as any other software I’d put on the computer if they bothered me. But ads are here to stay as it generates revenue for websites. It’s up to us to determine how we deal with them.

Agreed. Hopefully there will be legislation requiring PSE warnings on EVERY site that promotes this content.
