I am constantly getting the login screen which is extremely frustrating! If I want to play a game, read an article or if I click on the contents in the emailed newsletter I will more than likely be asked to log in even though I never log out. This is ridiculous - especially just to play a game! I have also had the login screen come up when I have changed pages or topics while already on the website. I have a new computer so it shouldn't be a question of clearing my cache or some solution like that. Is AARP's site not up to speed with the newer technology? What's going on with the website and how do I fix it?

I think this is because you don't allow cookies to be saved. Cookies as they are called are bits of information left on your computer by a site you visited. They save information about you, such as prior visits, login credentials, etc. It is searched for by sites when you go to them. Your browser usually is involved and I would start there to see if there is a setting that allows cookies from sites.

Thank you for your possible solution but this is not the issue either. I've checked the cookie settings and that all seems fine. Another suggestion I had was that there's a problem with the DSN or AARP's registry but I'm not computer savvy enough to follow up on that. It would be nice if AARP would have responded to my request for help. I would imagine they must have a technology department. 🙄

If the problem is not your cookies setting, is it possible you are running in an "incognito" window? It would still be a cookies issue but it would be caused by incognito mode which prevents caching and cookies from being saved.

I have the same complaint and I find this constant login especially egregious because there is no risk at stake, it’s not like your investment account or health care provider. What are they trying to protect? The membership is so cheap I venture everyone has it. So… do they want to keep tabs on who does what? They are sure eager to have us take the cognitive assessment and earn points… still not clue what the points are because… who cares. I think the website programmers are targeting what we thought of seniors fifty years ago….. look at the photos they use 🤦🏼🤦🏼🤦🏼 I’d gotten hooked on the daily puzzle then the website stopped functioning for weeks. They call it “staying sharp” but I think it’s the individual behind the programming who should… stay a bit sharper.

Me too, I HATE having to log in and struggle with security checks so most of the time I just don't bother to use the site. It's too bad because I get notices of interesting looking articles in my email, but I pass because of how difficult it is to log in with the security, etc. It's not like this is a bank site or anything, you'd think they could come up with something easier to use.

I'm having the exact same problem, and I see the original post was in 2022. There is definitely an issue that goes beyond cookies and caches! To have to troubleshoot beyond that is ridiculous. I've cleared the cookies and cache, tried different browsers, made sure no VPN is on, went incognito, tried the app on my phone. All it does is a constant loop. For a site that advocates for older people, the site sure isn't user-friendly in this regard. If this were a bank, they'd be out of business fast. Thanks for letting me vent in a reply!

It's fixed now for me. Actually took just a couple hours, but evidently it's a long-standing issue. I texted with them, and customer service was very nice. I thanked them for letting me vent. Also got "kudos" from other members, and it was nice to get that support and to not feel like this was an isolated issue or that it was something on my end. Hope the situation is resolved now for you too!

How were you able to fix the issue? Two hours is a long time - you may have more patience than I do.

I'm glad you resolved it, but it would be nice if AARP would address the issue for everyone who is having the same problem. Or even better, if they would fix the issue on their end!
