Hi everyone! As we kick off a new year, I’ve been thinking a lot about setting realistic fitness goals. For me, it’s all about staying consistent with chair yoga and finding new ways to stay active. What are your fitness goals for this year? Any tips or advice for staying motivated? Let’s share and encourage each other!

Hey, Robert! Great post! I don't really have any tips/advice; just after I retired I needed to have a routine as I had when working (you know, wake, coffee, shower, drive, work, drive home, repeat 😉

So after all these years, my daily routine is wake, coffee, AARP fitness videos (partial to RBG's trainer Bryant Johnson and Lorraine Ladish, some Denise Austin), shower then AARP affirmations (you know that has to be Sheryl Lee Ralph).

Then I visit here and there, catch up on news, etc. then walk with favorite music...

I'm sure that sounds boring to some but after being addicted to the alarm clock for 60 years, I'm actually enjoying not any more; and actually having to to incorporate "fitness" into my daily routine.

Thanks, again, Robert, for great topic!

Hi Web Wise Woman:

I don’t think your routine is boring at all—in fact, it’s inspiring! Incorporating fitness and affirmations into your day sounds like a fantastic way to stay balanced and energized. I’m still working, so I often find myself pretty tired at the end of each day. Fitness is definitely something I try to prioritize to keep my energy levels up, but seeing routines like yours reminds me how important it is to build those habits into daily life, no matter what stage you’re in.

Thanks for sharing your routine—it gives me something to aspire to once I’m free from the alarm clock too! 😊

Robert

Just walking can make a huge difference. Start with a daily walk around the block and then walk two blocks the next day and three after that and so on. That's what I did, and soon I was walking an hour in the morning and another hour after dinner. Then it becomes a routine, and it feels weird not to take that walk after lunch or whenever.

Agree, walking is a great way. In addition to the exercise, endorphins are released. Also a great way to meet people in the neighborhood or park.
