topic AARP United Health Care Medicare Supplement plan G annual premium in Medicare & Insurance

My wife and I signed up for AARP United Health Care Medicare Supplement plan G in 2020. During the first year our premiums were from January thru December. However, starting from 2021 our premiums increase twice a year from January thru May and June thru December. We live in Michigan and my month of the birth is June. My question is, do the premiums increase twice a year. Folks with the same plan thru AARP UHC tell me that they are billed once a year. So, I am thinking is this a mistake on UHC's part. I have tried to call them several times to no avail. I am hoping if someone on this forum may be able to help. TIA. .

My wife and I had a similar experience. It went up every year and the the part d started to go up too. We dropped it and went to a Medicare Advantage plan. It consolidates everything into one. Includes dental, vision, part a,b,&d, plus gym membership and possibly other extras depending on the plan and where you live.

I was informed by UHC that since I had an enrollment discount at age 65, the discount would decrease incrementally until age 75, so there would be an annual increase on the anniversary date of my enrollment. Then in mid year, there was a second increase for the community claims experience/inflation. After age 75 I will just have the annual community increase.

My suggestion would be to contact your agent who enrolled you in the plan; they have much quicker access to their separate helpline. They can do a 3-way call with you on the line, and the operator will ask you if it is ok that they speak for you. I've done it before myself.
