Because pennies cost a lot of money to make and distribute — 3.69 cents per coin, to be exact.       <description>&lt;P&gt;It's going to be a long time before we don't have penny's. No telling how many are in use, in the billions I would guess.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Coin usage as a whole are going by the wayside. The use of plastic and just about everything in vending machines cost 1*2 dollars and the machines take plastic. Each year the Salivation Army is putting more card readers on their kettles because people not carrying money.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;We use to save our change all year and at Christmas give it to a toy drive. Use to always have a jar full. We don't even have the jar anymore.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
