7 Questions to Ask Yourself Before You Unretire.

Going back to work can enrich your life in retirement, but it can also cost you in unexpected ways.

Traditionally, retirement means saying goodbye to the workforce and entering a new life stage of leisure, travel, hobbies and more time with loved ones. But not everyone relishes the idea of leaving their professional selves in the past.

Around 1 in 5 retirees defy the standard definition of retirement by still clocking in and earning a paycheck, according to a recent T. Rowe Price study. Another 7 percent hope to join them soon as they seek employment. “As much as many people complain about their jobs or working in general, for many of us, work is where we derive meaning,” says Joseph Torre, a certified financial planner with Colarossi & Williams Financial Advisory Group in Islandia, New York. “Not all individuals have hobbies lined up on day one of retirement."

I agree with number 7 in article. Lol, sometimes returning to work backfires = stress = health issues.

7. Am I making a snap decision?

Getting a job might seem like the right solution for the "retirement blues" because it’s the most familiar option, but that doesn’t necessarily make it the best one.

*** Anyone either returned to work or thinking about it? ‌🤔‌

Ideally at age 67, I would like to BUT still looking as I so DO not want a "repeat" of my Job From Hell before retiring.

If you have already gone on Medicare and are going back to work and are gonna opt for employer coverage in place of Medicare - then you need to know all the Medicare and Social Security rules that have to do with employer coverage - like cancelling ALL or Medicare and Social Security IF you want to again participate in an employer GHP that has a HSA. OR if you are gonna cancel your Medigap plan - then also cancel your Part B coverage to stop paying Part B premiums and preserve your ability to have a guaranteed issue period when you sign up again for Part B.

It is the details here that will trip you up if not careful.

Well, I keep scanning the want ads on Indeed and I found a job. I applied for it but I also wrote a letter saying that I really couldn’t accept the position since it was full time and I’d make too much $$$ for SS. I then said I could do part-time or PRN and that I could work evenings, weekends and holidays. Believe it or not, I have a phone interview this Wednesday!
