I do know that someone with kidney issues needs to be careful with protein powder. Run it by your doc for suggestion. I drink a protein shake with plant protein — (peas) after a workout. But always good to check with doc on it.

Can anyone suggest protein powder for elderly (between 65 and 80 years old) women and men? I don't trust reviews from marketplace. If anyone is taking daily protein powder and have good benefits, please share with me; we're willing to try it.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Luckily we have no problem with kidney issues. Will explore more about plant based protein powder. Any recommendations for a brand? Much appreciated.

I haven’t tried any powdered protein, but Owyn makes excellent protein shakes. I really like the vanilla one, and it’s not chalky, but very smooth and incredible taste of vanilla. I just checked their website and the company also makes a powder. Haven’t tried those before so can’t vouch for them, but I do enjoy the shakes. Pricey, but very good after a workout. I buy the shakes in Walmart and target.

I I make a protein shake with almond milk, plain yogurt, honey and sometimes blackberries or strawberries that includes a scoop of Amazing Greens superfood plant blend powder. I usually include chia seeds and sometimes cacao nibs. It's ridiculously healthy! I am battling a very large hiatal hernia that will likely require surgery, but I am trying other avenues first.

Please make sure that the protein you purchase is NSF Certified for Sport or 3rd Party Tested. There are some protein powders made that have heavy metals and other substances that you don’t want in your body. Your protein should be around 25-30 grams per serving and then depending on your diet or macro needs your carbs and fat will vary. I buy my protein powder online from DotFIT or GMUSport. Costco has some good brands too, read your labels!!!!
