Gift Cards for Points......

Why are there so many of the same gift cards for points, for example 3 Columbia gift cards, 3 Bed Bath and Beyond cards, etc. If no one is redeeming them, why add more of the same? This has been going on for several months now, it's why there are so many available. I know personally I do not want a $5 gift card for a website or store that is pricey because I am not going to shop there just because I have a $5 gift card. Why not offer us more useful gift cards for places that we shop at more frequently like Amazon, Target, Walmart, CVS, Kohls, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. I have not redeemed any points yet this month because of the lack of variety and usefulness of the gift cards being offered. Usually by now I would normally have already redeemed points for 1 or 2 gift cards. Please stop adding more of the same and give us some variety!!

I didn't do any redemptions in January. As you said, not worth it for $5. I did in February as it seems the program has switched to many cheap cards rather than anything of value. If we had more than three redemptions, perhaps $5 cards wouldn't seem worthless. Those of us who recall the $20 cards we got at the beginning of the program are asking ourselves why we continue to waste our time. $15 for three $5 cards is not much for the time involved.

On the rare occasions when a $5 Amazon card is offered, they're sold out at 5 a.m. Why don't they provide more of the desired companies and reduce the less wanted?.....and get rid of those 6+ months outdated greeting cards!

company's give aarp the gift cards to promote their businesses, popular company's have no incentive to give out free gift cards, when they will get your business regardless

@DonnaPhotoArt I imagine the undesirable cards are given to AARP Rewards in exchange for the exposure/advertising value. They probably have to buy the cards like Amazon.

And on a different note, again the one $10 offer from the newsletter is long gone before I receive mine. Some of us are hours later getting it. Guess they can't email all at the same time but my end is always the tail end.

If members were to get four redemptions a month we could get two $5 gift cards from the multiple listings for the same gift card and make it worthwhile. I fill out the survey for AARP usually once or twice a week and make that suggestion.

Also, seems to be a haven on occasion for failing companies. TGI Fridays, JoAnn Fabrics, Previously, Boston Market, sure there have been some others.

Exactly! Does anyone even use their hard earned points for one of those greeting cards? There are plenty of sites that one can send an egreeting card for free.

I think 17000 points for a $5 GC is a lot. It wouldn’t be so bad if it was for at least a $10 GC.

For that matter, why put a limit on how many points you can earn in a day? Make it a monthly limit rather than a daily one if it’s that important to limit point earnings.

What is the earliest time they post? So unfair for west coast users PST vs EST. I often wonder about the Amazon card that goes so fast.

There is a time difference and that can't be helped. West coast gets an advantage on the extra credit rewards when we can look at them at 9PM so it all works out.
