There was a period of over 2 weeks where there were no explanation or communication for the unscheduled maintenance which took longer than the normal routine maintenance. Without transparency, there was cause for concern because AARP has access to member's personal information to include social security numbers, addresses, and credit card numbers which could be used for identity theft.

Better to have 1month maintenance than to have a 3-7days maintenance without solving the problem. I'm still unable to redeem. I hope it gets fixed for everyone at the end of this maintenance.

They are not maintaining anything. The outfit they use to run their program has been hacked or something. Lots of other non-AARP sweepstakes are down because of this Merkle outfit.

This "unscheduled maintenance", that is taking over 2+ weeks, leads me to believe there may have been a hack or data breach. I am most concerned if our personal information is at risk. AARP has not kept us informed. The members deserve transparency instead of being kept in the "dark".

I believe it’s unfair and misleading to suggest that any site was hacked without credible evidence. In today’s digital landscape, where bad actors are constantly online, spreading false speculation about hacks can be genuinely harmful. It not only creates unnecessary fear, but also risks desensitizing people to real threats. When individuals are bombarded with speculation instead of facts, they may begin to tune out legitimate warnings. That’s why it’s so important to rely on verified information and avoid jumping to conclusions.

From what I observed, AARP promptly posted a message on their website as soon as it became unavailable, clearly indicating the issue was due to technical difficulties.

rg, I would agree if we were talking 24-48 hours; but with 3 or more days AND NO OPEN, HONEST communication from a site's administration, we are only left to wonder; I for one, having 50+ years IT experience (well before it was called "IT"; just one of a few in the company who wasn't afraid of these new ugly things sitting on our desks), recognize when there is something unusual and no answers are forthcoming, so AARP Administrators are wholly responsible for any and all speculation, imo...
