AARP OWES THIS TO ITS MEMBERSHIP

AARP is a membership association.

Membership fees are the fuel that keeps the association's engine running.

As such, this association should be transparent as to the make-up of its engine parts.

That said, MODERATORS for the AARP forums should be identified as member fees do pay their salaries. Transparency of this type would assure members that MODERATORS hold no agenda and are truly neutral in all subject matter in which AARP is involved.

NC @nctarheel , I maybe wrong (probably am/lol 😂) - I "think" ALL of the AARP Consumercare Team @AARPConsumerCare are NOW "moderating" this AARP Community Board.

NO more "dedicated" moderator(s) as we had over the years.

As we all know, 2025 brought some "changes" & it seems a TEAM now handles things.

While they may call themselves a team, a decision maker still proffers their decisions.

Even if they are a team, my premise doesn't change, @SummerOnTheWay1 .

As our fees pay their salaries, there should be transparency to insure that our fees to the NON-PROFIT are being used in a manner that guarantees that all members are shielded from MODERATOR's personal agendas if they exist.

With me, they have ALWAYS "used" their AARP names even with the "new" 2025 team setup.

And when I "respond" to their PMs (private messages), I put the Employee's Name in the SUBJECT. So far, I have had NO issues.

At one time, I was a public employee, @SummerOnTheWay1 . Taxes paid my salary.

My salary was public record, even published in the newspaper once a year.

My political affiliation was publicly known.

I experienced several security checks prior to employment and some of the results of those checks were also in the public domain.

As a NON-PROFIT where member fees pay MODERATOR salaries, there should be more transparency regarding those MODERATORS, more that just a first name and absolutely nothing else.

Many organizations where employees have direct contact with their customers, clients, or members go as far as posting resumes to their web sites which assures those customers, clients, or members that the employees both are qualified and neutral, impartial, and unbiased in their decision-making.

NC @nctarheel , yes, my biz is all over Google and I am NOT happy.

As far as the Community Board AARP Employees, I "think" it is done to keep them safe. Alot of crazies out there online.

You could NOT pay me to deal with the public in person anymore. Way too many employees getting attacked by disgruntled folks. 😱

You don't have to tell me about the danger of public service, I had a fellow employee shot and killed in his office by a client.

But that was over two decades ago.

Things are no more dangerous now than then but with communications being more instantaneous and repetitive than it once was, it makes it seem that danger is around every corner.

To not be transparent instills doubt and suspicion as to MODERATOR decision making.
