I just received an envelope from AARP with a bold red statement stating STATEMENT ENCLOSED. Along, with MEMBER: Your new AARP card is enclosed. To activate, please return your statement. Not only is all of that telling someone I have AARP and my card is there, the card is completely showing through a window with my name, membership #, and Valued Member Since year. So now someone has the information of my address, name, card #, how long I been a member, and that this is a billing statement and they don't even have to open the envelope! Is there any other information that you want to give them?!! If it didn't show the correct membership # I would have thought it was a scam. I am not happy about all that could have been shared with someone. Since AARP is always doing articles on privacy and security, I am shocked by this.

I do apologize about the envelope and can totally understand your concern. Unless another person has your login information, they are not able to get into your AARP online membership. Also if anyone calls in about a membership, we do ask that they confirm all information on the membership, including date of birth and registered email address on file. I hope this does help with your concerns and if you have any other concerns, we're happy to help you.
Nadine T.
