Doing that is such a grief trigger (my mom died in May). What we finally did was temporarily rent a storage unit and we are going through things slowly. We did the furniture first as then we'd need a smaller storage unit. The other problem is people from out of town coming to get things. We took photos and loaded them to google photos for people to pick what they wanted (and worked out compromises when more htan one person wanted something). Take care and good luck dealing with this. It's hard.

Hi @JesseA721736

Im sorry for your loss. That’s hard.
The whole grief, responsibility thing can be completely overwhelming. Not only is there the sadness, but also too, making decisions, dealing with banks, paperwork, and all that. So hard, and so emotional. And possibly you may be dealing with an apartment with time constraints.

The suggestion that CBtoo made is a very good one if you could get a storage unit and then go at a slower pace when you can get to that. It’s so hard to be doing everything else and mourn at the same time. If you have other family or friends who can lend a hand too, that you could ask. That can be helpful too. Sometimes others want to help but don’t know exactly how or what you need.

One day and step at a time is all you can do. It is hard and can be all encompassing at times. Glad you are here asking.
