I’m sorry to hear of the losses that touched you and your family, their friends. That’s an enormous amount of loss all on that day. Hard to believe how much time has passed, as it seems like yesterday. Everything changed that day for sure. Be well yourself.

I worked in DC when it happened. We had people from our organization killed on one of the planes. Trying to make a mad rush on the subway was surreal with crowds of panicked people. The fire and smoke in the subway through the DC area could be seen and smelled underground. People so frantic they didn’t realize fares were waved, trying to add a fare amount to their subway cards.

Before our company told us to go home we all saw the towers get hit on a nearby office TV. Then we saw what we thought was the Pentagon. We all thought DC was going to be next, and our department head went down the halls telling everyone to go home now. She didn’t wait for the CEO to announce. The streets, buses ,subway were filled with panicked people. What was going on?

Today, and always I remember those lost, those people trying to save the ones in the towers, at the pentagon and in Pennsylvania. Everything, everyone changed that day.

My Mom's friend Julia Donovan had a son William who worked at the Pentagon. He was killed on that September 11th. We also had 3 other friends who were killed on the planes that hit the Twin Towers. Two were a married couple, Dave and Linda. The other was the wife of a lawyer friend of my Mom. Her name was Barbara. I appreciate your wonderful post. I am glad that you survived that day. Take care. 🙂💌
