I was insured with The Hartford for 20 years if not longer. In, I think 2020, I was involved in an accident that was not my fault. My vehicle was totaled by a drunk driver who ran a red light. For months I continued paying the premium until my thoughts cleared from the head trauma. I spoke with a representative and asked would there be an issue with my canceling the policy since I did not have a vehicle when the time came to replace the one which was totaled. I was assured that there would be no problem. Well, four years later when the case was settled, I purchased another vehicle and attempted to be insured and was denied because I had not been insured for at least 2 years (I think that was the time frame I was told). How could I be insured when I DID NOT HAVE A VEHICLE??? Suffice it to say, I had to get insured through another agency. AARP and its agents appear to be very deceptive. I renewed my membership but now I considering canceling. I think I need to have my head examined.😞
