STOP the survey pop up during activities

Some of the online activities are enjoyable and useful; however, AARP has decided to put pop ups for surveys while it is still in process blocking the video. It is disruptive to the user and not member friendly. The IT team cannot prevent the timing problem, really?

I've been a member for years but as others have mentioned, I question the value of the membership . . . especially as the price goes up!

If you answer it once, it goes away, from what I gather. I don't like it either.

You have control over the price, @JillL202705. Prior to the five year period we are presently in, I negotiated a membership price with AARP of $31.00 for five years or about $6,25 a year. Of course, I did not expect that low a price this year but I did negotiate a price of $9.00 a year.....and I had them bill me rather than force me into automatic renewal. Automatic renewal is not consumer friendly.

Anyway, I negotiate all subscription type things be it XM radio, my cable, and magazines ( I get Time magazine for 3 years, some 150 issues for $30.00 or $10 a year. You just have to call these places and most are very welcoming to a negotiation because they need to keep their numbers up regardless of what they charge the few people, like me, that try to save a buck.

Yes, I recently renewed my AARP membership, got the $9.00 a year for five years and NO auto-renewal. Now, a couple of weeks later, they did offer $9.00 a year to all but you had to provide your credit card and charge it as they forced you to be on auto-renewal. I got the $9.00 when they were advertising $16.00 a year. I believe they are now charging $20 a year but $15-16 a year if you provide your credit card info so they can auto-renew you. I also renewed my subscription to Time this year as I have been getting Time for several 3 year cycles at the $30 for three year cycle as I mentioned earlier.

I've never seen this offer, and I've provided the exact same thing. How recent have you renewed? I just renewed in March. Seems your information is the same as what you mentioned last year, you must have some connections? Just curious.

I renewed in 2025, in fact it may have been March. I negotiate these type of things every year, @Jason2020LovesKelly. Radio, newspaper, magazines, cable, telephone.... they all negotiate. I have saved myself hundreds and hundreds over the years. I have NO connections. Organizations need to maintain their numbers so those that are aggressive enough and call to negotiate membership fees, subscription rates, and monthly utility fees are usually met with welcoming arms. As to the offer you allude to, I am not sure what you are taking about. If it is the $15 rate instead of the full $20 rate for AARP membership if you accept auto-renew....I have seen that everywhere. In fact, it is advertised on the gaming platform of this very website.

I agree. Surveys are annoying at times and helpful at times. I respond to about 25% of them where the info covered is useful.
