Advocacy - Social Security Bill of Rights

While I agree with the Social Security Bill of Rights (no cuts, no privatization, no etc), it's just no no no. Why isn't there something about improvements and reforms to social security - e.g. raising the income caps on social security taxes - I've read that this alone could fully fund social security. Just saying no and what we want in benefits, without talking about what's wrong and needs improvement, will not garner any additional support that we don't already have or gain partnership with other special interest initiatives with the complimentary solutions. I think we actually have lost some influence on issues related to Social Security. The opponents to Social Security have been playing the long game and it seems to be coming to fruition - by delaying, waiting for (or causing) the national debt to drown social security, framing the discussion as entitlement, all leading to the de-fanging the 'third rail' of politics.

@NealL588264 - Here is a WHOLE board dedicated to the subject of Social Security - some are just people asking questions about the program but others are way more detailed in the discussion of bringing solvency to the program. Read thru them - there are a few of us here that know a lot about the financial problems of the program and some that know a lot about the program itself.

AARP Community Board: Social Security

AARP represents a lot of different types of people - some are financially security in their retirement, others are not. Some are on Social Security because of their age, some because of a disability and some are getting benefits off the record of another for several different types of reasons.
