Gym Membershps? what happened?

When I got my supplement (G), it included Silver Sneakers. Now I can't find Silver Sneakers. Is there a substitute? That was part of me decision on what plan to get.

And, the premium has gone up despite being told it would not.

My plan, not with AARP, changed from Silver and Fit to One Pass. Maybe it is with One Pass. One pass allows me as many gym memberships as I want not just one for now and maybe change next month. I currently have a membership for City Sports (LA Fitness) as well as YMCA. I can join any program any time and have concurrent memberships. YMCA does ask me to use the facility at least monthly to avoid problems. You can add as many gyms as you want which is great if you are travelling. However, a perk with Silver and Fit and possibly Silver Sneakers for at home kits such as fitness dvds, exercise mats, walking poles, etc is not included if you are within a certain distance range of a gym. Silver and Fit gave me a kit as well as a gym membership, One Pass gives you only one of these. Look into if One Pass is now your program. good luck.

Might be something with SS, my plan dropped them a few years ago. I haven't seen any gyms advertising about them.

@BtW751689 , what supplement do you have that includes One Pass? I'd prefer that to AARP/UHC's Renew Active, but I haven't been able to figure out which company has it.

I'm familiar with One Pass in the employer-provided insurance market (where members have to pay extra to have One Pass). But I haven't found a supplement that has One Pass. I think Kaiser offers One Pass, but I'm not eligible for Kaiser. So I'd love to know what company you have and what state the supplement is in.

Who told you the premium wouldn't go up?

Supplement premiums in general go up every year, and AARP/UHC supplement premiums in particular are pretty much guaranteed to go up because the premium is based on an age-related discount, which goes down every year. A decreasing discount means an increasing premium.

The only way an AARP/UHC Plan G premium wouldn't go up is if the inflation and claims payout portion of the premium calculation not only went down, but went down by more than the reduced discount would make the premium go up. Not very likely.

Alignment in California but they have it in a few other places. Supposedly the perks in Southern CA are better than Northern CA. And if you do get it please consider that there is a referral program that anyone referred gets a bonus spend allotment. Would have to get info to make referral/get bonus.

Aah, your mention of "perks" made me look them up, and they're Advantage plans, not supplements. Still looking for that holy grail of a supplement that includes One Pass.

Gym benefits are almost always included in Advantage plans, but are much rarer in supplements.

I have a G from AARP/UHC. There was verbiage to that effect on the page where you select your plant. Of course, being a scientist and taking verbiage literally, I did not expect the premium to change. It didn't. The discounts went down. AARP/UHN plan does have a free membership to a gyn. There is a place on the website to download a code. I'm pretty sure it's only good for a year, although that is NOT stated anywhere on any of the agreements.

I'll be honest and say your most recent post is hard to understand.

But I will say that the Renew Active gym benefit isn't "only good for a year"--it's good as long as you keep that supplement and the supplement continues to include Renew Active gym benefits.

And I asked a couple of months ago who told you your premium wouldn't go up and you didn't answer, but now it looks like you inferred that from some literature? Or maybe your documents have the same language that's in my documents, which says the premium is guaranteed for six months from enrollment. And of course there's the declining discount AARP/UHC plans have, which kicks in after a couple of years, which means there will be an increase twice a year--once on your birthday specific to you and your age, and once in the middle of the year that affects everyone.

My mid-year increase happens in July. The first year I was enrolled, July was during the six-month period where my premium was guaranteed not to go up, so it didn't go up in July, but it did as soon as the six-month period expired.

Maybe that helps explain things? Or maybe your increase is completely different, and you should check with the insurance company.
