@GailL1

I was going to give a reply similar to a description I remember writing before. But I will link to the previous discussion and point out my reply then, see https://community.aarp.org/t5/About-Our-Community/KUDOS-Giving-and-Recieving/m-p/2413971

I believe that previous discussion provided a link to the AARP forum description of "kudos", see https://community.aarp.org/t5/help/faqpage/faq-category-id/kudos#kudos

That's probably as good as what you'll get.

My own reply stays the same as in the previous discussion. I am generous with kudos to those who put a lot of effort into their posts and replies, assuming that I consider them to be "worthwhile", in my personal opinion. Some topics don't seem to get much traffic but some members put a lot of time responding to various questions of a "technical" nature regarding topics like Medicare, personal finances, scams, Social Security, etc. I am generous to the experts who reply ...because they don't seem to be awarded so much otherwise!

I read some definitions of "kudos". Comes from ancient Greek. Seems not to be the plural of "kudo". It's just a thing.

This site seems to give a nice discussion of the word, its meaning, history, and usage https://www.dictionary.com/browse/kudos

I apply it as a show of approval and recognition of the effort put forth. edit to add: it's an "attaboy". or "attagirl"
