ART AND ROCK N ROLL

Hi

I read an article this
morning about an art show in Miami and the beginning of the
article made me think about all of the great art associated with
rock and music.  Album covers, concert posters, the
photography work of people like Linda Eastman McCartney and
thousands of others.

Think about it  and
lets talk : )

Yes  that is one album I am going to have to go and re-visit  it was a total departure from anything else that was out at the time for me   and this album cover is in the classic listing  and deservedly so

Arn't these just tremendous.......   I have really forgottten how much the album covers were part of the whole music thing.   I remember my Rod Stewart album cover shaped like a whiskey glass  .....

That is really something that is missing in the world of the ipod.   Makes me wish I had a family room and a set of album cover frames  : )

Thanks so much

Such cool pix!  I am very fond of the cover to Joni Mitchell’s "Court and Spark" album.  As with others of her albums, Joni did that one, herself.  Also, I absolutely loved the covers of ::all:: the "Yes" albums!  Boy, does all this make me feel a bit nostalgic!

 Hi

Here is a link to the article.  www.miamiherald.com/entertainment/story/577514.html">http://www.miamiherald.com/entertainment/story/577514.html

from the article

"Providing the backbeat is Slater Bradley's The Year of the Doppelganger, a four-minute video installation. In it, a long-haired, look-alike friend of the artist plays the thundering drums of Led Zeppelin's When the Levee Breaks, sitting shirtless, pale and gaunt on the University of California-Berkeley football field. When the college's beefy football team practices around him there is a clash of cultures, each man representing a different side of masculinity, the muscular beat holding its own against brute strength."

I would love to see it.

My favorite is that set of individual altered photo portraits of the beatles that was in Life or Look back in the 60s. Only problem was that they were on front and back of pages, so I could only display 2 at a time --had 'em taped up on the ceiling slope in my attic bedroom.

So getting back to the topic here:

Album covers.......  there have been some great ones!

How about I start with Led Zeppelin’s  "Houses of the Holy"  The cover evokes all of the strange and fantasy driven stories about the band.........
