My first car was a 56 Chevy 2 door sedan . I was 16 and the year was 1971 . It was a quarter mile drag strip car that I bought the body only and put back on the street . I put a 327 and 4 speed tranny in it and had a great junior and senior high school years hotrodding with it . It was a real looker . Wish I would have kept it .

I used to deliver newspapers on my bicycle every morning before school.

When I could no longer keep fenders on it, I always got to school with a muddy stripe down my back. When I started walking to school, I found a car that was permently parked beside a house. My brother was good with cars. I saved every Silver coin from my paper route and substituted them with those new "sandwhich" coins. I bought that old car for $25 in silver coins. Me & my brother spent a couple of weeks getting it running again. It was a 1950 Studebaker Starlight Coupe which was older than I was. Loved that car even if it did only have a flat-head six in it.

My first vehicle was a Willys Jeep.  This was in 1950 and it certainly was not new.  Looked like an army vehicle, but oh so much fun to gather about 3 friends and cruise around my small town.

I paid cash for a used Toyota Corolla when I was 19 and also passed the driving test and received my license.
