So you're still upset about Walmart giving their employees a raise and perhaps allowing them go off public assistance?  How liberal of you!!!

The small raise that Walmart gave and the pay scale it will take employees to will not get an employee who is single off of assistance unless that employee has other income. Do the math.

Can you show any proof that "in most cases" Walmart is offering jobs to those they are laying off in the store closings? Of course you can't.

As far as "again another thread degenerates into political philosophy" ............... aren't you more than contributing to that in saying "liberal socialist philosophy" or, in other posts, "liberal socialist philosophy" or "communist socialist philosophy"? Of course you are.

No to all, but regarding what Walmart is doing...who cares.  If you don't like their business model, just patronize stores with higher prices.

As far as the latter, more of an economic matter.  Of course to some a business shouldn't be alllowed to make sound business decisions.  I note that the negative comments about Walmart/Sam's Clubs decision is from 'liberals' who can't stand for anyone to have a different opinion.

You mentioned Kmart and others. They didn't brag about raises nor imply that the raises were because of tax cuts while closing stores and saying nothing about it.

You're getting like Jimc or others here who look upon anyone left of the far right as "liberals".

No one mentioned anything about personal attack.  As far as throwing around 'liberal', perhaps one shouldn't infer it in their screen name?

Further, perhaps you should read the news since that is where I found my information.  But I note that you have no way of proving what I posted is wrong or is presenting anything to do so.

How can one agree with the liberal point of view when they tend to be so argumentative here?  Or so dogmatic that they feel their opinions is sent down from above and written on stone?

You show you do not know that most people that worked for a small retail store did or does not get the benefits that workers at the "big box" stores get.

Its a free country..shop were you want.

FYI...Spell check is a good thing.

Errors are in bold red. Both "Its" should have been "It's" -- the apostrophe is missing. One shows possession and one is a contraction that represents a missing word, the missing word being "is". They do not have the same meaning.

"Were" should have been "Where".

The misused words are spelled correctly, but their purpose and meaning are misspelled in the context presented. Actually, one is a spelling error, and one is a grammar error.

Petty enough? Yeah, that's why sanctimoniously chiding someone for a spelling error, when a spelling or grammar error is just a keystroke away ourselves, is proof of a weak argument to start with.

Ta-ta!

3) And now you want to bring up any other employer to take the focus off Walmart. And then you politicize it, which you complained about others doing earlier in this thread. Only in alt-right Trump land.

More of your partianship?  I was posting what was said in the media about employees being offered positions in other stores.  If you want to check what I posted then suggest you do your own research.

Additionally, of course you are wanting to come down hard on Walmart without considering that it is not only them that pays around minimum wage..  All that without considering that most retail stores pay their employees the same wages.

Further, I gather you are attempting to make this into a personal argumentative discussion, much like another poster here.  And even further you are basing this on partisan lines.

By the way, the three spell check errors you claim in Kidboy's post wasn't his, but the person he was quoting verbatim.

Have a good evening now.

I'll get to KidBoy's post in just a sec. Good evening!

Big Lib posted..

Advocating spell check, and I see at least 3 errors.
------------------------------------

Mlesker's post..

So, in light of their suicide by profit chasing, i tend to avoid most non local retail outfits. ANYTHING that is a slave to the stock market is a place to avoid. they supress wages, benfits, pensions, all good treatmet of the worker because of their already inflated value.

======================

Mlseker did not see them or does not care or does not how spell check works.

Another one who can't stick to the topic but apparently wants to make it argumentative.

But most don't - because they aren't willing to pay for top quality.

They're cheap and stupid and waste their money buying third rate trash that only lasts a year or two - and then buy it all over again - looking for price instead of quality...

They are what keeps Walmart and the online guys in business...

Of course a person who makes their living with tools are going to buy top quality for dependability.  Me, I just bought a level and other tools at Dollar Tree since they serve my purpose.  Other tools such as a good hammer, etc I went to Lowes for quality.

But this is a far cry from the topic of buying at Walmart.  I did buy a cheap socket set some years ago at Walmart for five bucks and have been giving it plenty of use.

Yeah sure - another post with content of blah blah blah...

You're making wild assertions about Walmart and Sam's Club, and refuse to provide any facts to back it up. Should I post them again for all to see? Sure.

You first claimed those Sam's Club employees had been offered jobs at other Walmart/Sam's Club stores, and when asked for proof, you refused to provide any. Care to post that proof now, since you claim to be discussing only Walmart and Sam's Club?

Then you claimed that the Walmart raise would ensure their employees would live above public assistance qualifying levels, and when asked for proof, you refused to provide any. Care to post that proof now, since you claim to be discussing only Walmart and Sam's Club?

Can you prove that these displaced employees haven't been offered employment in other stores?  The media says they have been; this in addition to them being full pay for 60 days.  Do you have indications otherwise, or is it that you are letting your prejudice show?

What pay scale do you think would put an employee above public assistance level?  How can you just point out Walmart without considering that other companies are also paying the same pay scale of minimum wage or thereabouts?

Where is your indignation at other stores like 7-Eleven, etc that no doubt are just paying minimum wage?  Of course if everyone was being paid $15 or $20 an hour then prices would be raised accordingly therefore raising a living wage.   Only in liberal land.
