  4. Government auditors spent the past five years examining all federal programs and found that 22 percent of them -- costing taxpayers a total of $123 billion annually -- fail to show any positive impact on the populations they serve.[4]
  5. The Congressional Budget Office published a "Budget Options" series identifying more than $100 billion in potential spending cuts.[5]
  6. Examples from multiple Government Accountability Office (GAO) reports of wasteful duplication include 342 economic development programs; 130 programs serving the disabled; 130 programs serving at-risk youth; 90 early childhood development programs; 75 programs funding international education, cultural, and training exchange activities; and 72safe water programs.[6]

  13. Health care fraud is estimated to cost taxpayers more than $60 billionannually.[13]

Do you think that DC has a better "handle" on that is going on in Meals on Wheels and how that money is being spent than the locals? If so please explain.

At this pace it will end up costing us 600 MILLION Dollars during his term and that's just for Florida , try adding Trump Tower NYC and all of his kids " Business " trips.  All the hypocrites who complained about Obama are Crickets now !!!

And when I posted that local and state Governments and not our Federal Government should be the ones that should fund Meals on Wheels if they do not get enough donations ...that did not set well with a few posters. Our Federal government shows they do not know what is going on with Meals on Wheels were the local governments due.

Its hard to believe that many think that DC will spend our tax dollars efficiently.

Charity, local Governments help and volunteers will keep Meals on Wheels going.

BTW The Meals on Wheels programs are not available in many towns and cities.

  4. Government auditors spent the past five years examining all federal programs and found that 22 percent of them -- costing taxpayers a total of $123 billion annually -- fail to show any positive impact on the populations they serve.[4]

The 81 guests consumed an average of $167 worth of food and drink apiece.[8]
  9. Federal agencies are delinquent on nearly 20 percent of employee travel charge cards, costing taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars annually.[9]
