One of the things so interesting within the Construction Industry is that when the economy overall falls and jobs are lost in lower to medium high end projects, projects in the high or luxury end grow significantly.  Competition forces prices down and although financing may have disappeared for the lower end stuff, those with liquid reserves take advantage and enter the contruction phase for projects held in abeyance until this happens.  No fault for that, it does create jobs that otherwise wouldn't exist and that's a good thing.  Does it also mean that them that got, gets?  Well....yes.  Does it really have to be that way?  Well...no.  What is cited here is the use of liquid resources to get out of a failing industry that has run its course into another that is on its way up.  Prudent investment...I guess.

Altruistic in nature....Hell, no.

News from KY is great.   It took a guy with knowledge and activist mindset to get inside the belly of the beast (local government) to make this change.     I loved the demo project!

Apparently some here seem to believe that if a company dealing with Solar Energy is a BFD, but when Westinghouse filed  and left the nuclear plants in the great state of GA high and dry, that was not news worthy.      OOPS!    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/29/business/westinghouse-toshiba-nuclear-bankruptcy.html?_r=0

Or is it hypocrisy or  preying on low information #45 folks here who don't read much.....

I wish them luck -

Atlanta Business 04/20/2017. Atlanta Solar Maker Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

They also had a plant in Michigan.

And had money from venture capital and from state and federal government.

At their height, here, they employed 500 people.

And this problem happened after the Chinese bought a controling interest in 2015.

Per the article-

The once high-flying Georgia Tech spinoff had raised more than $130 million in venture capital and scored millions of dollars in state and federal incentives as it expanded manufacturing in Georgia and Michigan.

. . . . In its bankruptcy filing, Suniva reported assents of $10 million-to-$50 million and liabilities of $100 million-to-$500 million. The company owes as many as 1,000 creditors, according to the April 17 filing.

Suniva is struggling with an industrywide problem — solar panel and cell pricing is tumbling faster than the cost of producing them.

Read more at the link -

Maybe this company in Ky can use up some of the glut.
