The left won't have to engage in Stalinesque propaganda (or propaganda of any sort) to sell single payer coverage. The majority already supports it and people are familiar with and like Medicare. For those who don't believe me, just offer Medicare for all and see what happens.

So are you talking about HR676 or some other plan?

I don't believe that the majority of Americans even understand our current Medicare system.  I read everyday here and elsewhere, talk to people and most of them, especially those not currently on the system, don't understand it and think it is something that it is not.

Our current system also has funding problems and will continue to get worse as the Boomers age.  When suggestions are made to help control cost within the system by both sides of the isle, there is an outcry and those ideas are rarely approved.

I fully understand as to how come many have no idea as to what they want to have. they have never been exposed to anything alse. and change is difficult for many.
I have come to the conclusion that we are not ready at this time to accept andything different is too scary, we must first find for ourselves what iti will mean not to have insurance in this country, and the benefits that  they will not have, even if they go to the ER.
When they find out the difficulties that they will have, perhaps then, they will understand what it is to have a National Health care system and it will provide.

Without people understanding exactly what any health care coverage plan will mean to them, what it will cost them, and what might be covered or NOT - each is viewing it through a narrow window of what they THINK it represents.

Rose colored glasses or The Grass is always greener concept.

How Will the Left Sell "Single Payer?" Lie about It

A leading leftist magazine, New Republic, is running an informative article about the left's Stalinesque propaganda plans for selling "single payer" health coverage, to the American public which the article says is highly opposed by Americans "if it would result in large increases in government spending." No one disagrees that single payer surely would result in large increases in government spending. According to the leading leftist organization Urban Institute in May 2016, single payer would cost $2.5 Trillion more per year than the $1 Trillion that just the Federal government  already spends per year on health care (going from a third of the budget to 70% of the budget).

So whattaya gonna do, Bernie, before that Urban Institute finding finally gets turned into that CBO score you've been avoiding for years. A CBO report will do to single payer nationally what a similar report did to single payer in Bernie's home state, Vermont: Kill it.

Among the propaganda techniques the left says it will have to use to fool Americans again (but no one is suggesting hiring Jonathan Gruber like Obama did) is to lie about what "single payer" is. According to the article, one leading leftist says

"It also might matter what you call it. Among Democrats, the term ‘Medicare-for-all’ generates a much more enthusiastic reaction than does ‘single-payer’”.

So even though United States Medicare is dual payer by law and has three to five payers in effect, just make sure you lie to Americans and call your single payer program Medicare.

The New Republic article seems to almost all track back to data from a Kaiser Insurance Company survey of some sort released on July 5.
