I have loved, not necesarily in order:

Mystic, CT

Chicago

Santa Cruz/Capitola part of California.  The Redwoods parks near there.

Monterey, that coastal trail they have is awesome.

San Francisco

Oregon Coast

St. Augustine, FL

Pike's Peak/Colorado Springs/Manitou Springs

I want to go to San Diego, the Florida Keys, the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, and Nashville.

New York is New York, but it's too big for me.

Yes: beautiful. I'm almost excruciatingly familiar with the entire west coast (including Canada). Spent years roaming and working on the west coast. Gorgeous. Overpopulated for the likes of me, but wonderful coastline. The Columbia River, too, is incredibly fetching. Victoria. BC. Astoria, OR. Southern Oregon Coast. The redwoods. The lost coast. Steinbeck country. That farm town where we used to buy one-egg omelets. Santa Barbara. Cannot abide LA. (though LACMA is fantastic) San Diego used to be lovely.

Still, I'm thinking petroglyphs and elk herds for neighbors. I like waking up to the sounds of the feral nocturnals retreating to their hiding spots and a view of unmodernized land. Smiley Happy If I have to choose between solar LEDS or generator, I'm in the right place. Smiley Happy

Apologies for feeling the need for ths addendum. Here's my thinking: I feel most me when surrounded by nature, preferably wilderness BUT and ALSO cities and human developments are not going away any time soon, untouched land, on the other hand, is vanishing rapidly. I want to experience as much of it as I can while I can. Smiley Happy

The company that bought the plant at which I worked, has HQ in NOLA, and had I continued to work for them, I would have had to go down for training. I guess that's the only thing I missed, having retired when I did!

wow  good for them!  Would you like to go and visit them?

When my cousins were here from Israel, they did what I'd call "The Patriot" tour .. Niagara Falls, Boston, New York, Baltimore/Annapolis & Washington, D.C.

From their list, I think I'd like New Orleans & Charleston, since I've been to many of the others already.

I hope they enjoyed their "tour"!   I am sure you would love New Orleans. Don't know Charleston to know but I would think so.

The other thing we look for are long bike trails (think rails to trails).

Boy is it hard to narrow this down.

1 New York City

2 Hilton Head

3 Route 1  The California Oregon Washington coastal trip  (not really a destination exactly but oh well)

4 New Orleans

5 Reno/Tahoe   /  Cape Cod   kind of a tie

You?
