Re: Week 5 - Care4YouToo Community Contest

I have been dieting with low fat foods such as chicken, mussels, lots of fruit and vegetables. As a resul I am now down 35 pounds from 235 to 200. The most wonderful result I have had is the major reduction in the pain from arthritis in my knees. For the first time in 2 years, I did not need cortisone shots in mmy knees. I am also able to continue with walking, stationary bike and water exercises with much less effort and I am also getting around without using my cane as much. I am so glad to have accomplished these goals and will continue with my revised food plan as a simple change in eating habits rather than a diet.

Answer:  I feel clearer in my mind, don't have chest pain so much anymore, have lost maybe 4 pounds. That is a result of trying to eliminate 2 favorite food items, for about the past 6-8 months.

What are the two food items, if you don't mind sharing

Wow and congrats! Your last sentence says a lot about why you are having such success: simple, sustainable changes vs a total overhaul combined with a mindset that is not overwhelming. Small steps lead to big changes and you are proof!

I have cut snacks to a minimum, I cook all my own meals vs. eating out. I am now doing a paleo/raw combo. It seems to be working. Water when I am feeling hungry without good reason.

Re: Week 5 - Care4YouToo Community Contest

I've been cutting way back on sugar and I notice more energy, clear thinking, my tummy isn't so bloated and also my skin is clearer and digestion better. I ate more sugar (and drank more wine!) on vacation and really noticed the difference - I started to feel badly again. This week I'm back on track and I already notice a difference again in how I feel! I'm replacing sugary things with nuts and cut veggies with hummus (a girl's gotta munch!) I do allow myself occasional bites of very dark chocolate (min. 70% cocoa content - preferably 85% cocoa) which satisfies my sweet tooth. It's rich so I don't crave more like I do with higher sugar content chocolate.
